Forum on Growth, Transformation and Reform: Emerging Economies in the Next Decade

The EPF Forum on the topic of “Growth, Transformation, Reform: Emerging Economies in the Next Decade” was organised by the China Institute for Reform and Development (CIRD) and EPF in Haikou, Hainan Province, PR China. Among the 350 participants were over 40 policy makers and policy researchers from relevant departments of the Chinese government, about 90 policy makers, close to 40 senior policy researchers of think tanks of other emerging economies including Brazil, Russia, India, South Africa, Turkey, Nigeria, Mexico, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, as well as senior policy researchers from German think tanks, and from seven international organizations.

Together they addressed key issues concerning comprehensive and deepened economic reforms in anticipation of the Third Plenary Session of the 18th Communist Party of China Central Committee to be held in November in Beijing. Going beyond Chinese economic policy, the experts prepared policy briefs, discussed prospects and policy measures for BRICS/emerging economies, and explored opportunities for coordination and cooperation.
